Nordstrom is previewing the Marc by Marc Jacobs collection right now

Rest assured, you'll be seeing me in one of these things this fall. And if I were a younger woman, it would be that adorable little dress with the giant bow!!

VIDEO: New Ideas... and Old Ones

Whilst standing in line at sbux today, I overheard the conversation in front of me. Nothing extraordinary. Then a couple seconds later, a pair walked in behind me and Ioverheard their conversation. This reminded me of an idea I had for a film several years ago and never followed through with it.

I believe the time has come, and I plan to film it myself... sort of an independent film venture Although, I don't have any experience, no camera, no editing equipment and no actors... but what the hey... that's what friends are for, right?

While I'm working on that project, why don't you take a look at this... It's my first "film". Ok, it was taken with a still digital camera, but nevertheless, it is motion picture. The link is to the video on my YouTube channel. Only two videos so far, but have a lookie... comment and subscribe.

Enjoy... there will be many more to come.

FASHION: Gryson Clearance

You know how Target has their "International GO Designers"? Well, in the midst of all this, they had Gryson do a line of handbags [they may have been the first high end designer in the series to do handbags], in any event, I saw the bags online and thought they were ok. But one day, I saw a girl with the Woven Swingpack in "Denim Blue".

I thought it was so cute, I had to stop her to ask her where she got it. After telling me it was one of the Gryson bags, I remembered the design. It is really really cute in person. And now... it's $4.99!!!
If I'm not mistaken, it's still available in all 4 colors, Black, White, Green and this Denim Blue. No, it's not leather, but for $4.99 do you care?
In other news... Target is in talks with Mr McQ himself... Do you think he'll say yes?
I'll be FIRST in line for this one!!! All the other designers have disappointed me so... :(
Cross your fingers that his crack at it lives up to the hype!

FOOD: Bento Boxing

So, I got a new Bento Box last week.

It was hard deciding which one to get, cuz there are so many cute ones... and so many cute accessories. I opted for a more conservative one that had containers without dividers so that I could be more flexible. The need for more accessories has already arisen ;)

Today's box was entirely organic... consisting of Whole Wheat pasta, topped with butter and Parmesan Cheese. Grapes. Broccoli and Balsamic Vinegar... which I did not use, because I just plopped the broccoli on top of the pasta. I added an organic Orange to the mix and had a nicely rounded off meal.

Dinner, which I am able to order for free from work was a Tuna Sandwich [made with light mayo] on Multigrain bread, swiss and green olives [a splurge, I know] and a salad which I have not yet eaten.

Generally I start work at 7p.m. and eat the restaurant meal [or a portion of it] when I start. Then I eat my second meal around 11 or 12. The problem arises when I see buffalo wings or pizza on the menu... or if I eat all of the meal at 7. Then I'm stuck with nothing and I either get ramen from 7-11 or I eat out of the vending machine. Bringing healthy items from home will help combat this.

Today, however, I had an earlier shift [3pm], so I had the foods from my Bento at 4pm, my sandwich at 7:30 and have yet to eat the salad.

I will post images of my Bento on the Flickr Group Bento Boxes: http://www.flickr.com/groups/bentoboxes/
Which is a great place to get ideas, recipes and cute ways to organize your bento.

The hope is that by eating out of the Bento, I will A.) stop eating the fatty foods that are ordered whilst at work and B.) retrain myself to eat appropriate portion sizes.
In addition to all of this, I am trying to work out more... walk more... just generally be more active.
Any tips or ideas? I'd love to hear em!

FASHION: Fall Crushes

Shoes and Bags are like Boys... I very often get crushes on them.

Here are a couple items I'm crushing on for fall so far:

Marc by Marc Jacobs Metal Check Groovee Bag
$598 at shopbop

Rodarte F/W 08 ripped crochet tights
I haven't actually found them anywhere to buy, but I heard they are $850... I don't think I'll be getting them! But I do love them so!!!!
Oh, and how could you not think those shoes are fabulous!?!?!?!?!?
They are, indeed by Monsieur Louboutin.

MUSING: 8/10, 8.10, Aug 10

Today is August 10th, and although it's not a particularly noteworthy day, it is a date that has stuck in my head for years.

In 1987 it was the first day of my first job in Chicago. The following year it was the date my favorite band was playing [this has happened a few separate years]. Another year it was the day I left for a vacation.

And it's not that something particular happens every year on August 10th, and never that I plan for something to happen on August 10, it's just one of those things where I go "Hm... that's August 10th... there's that date again."

I don't know anything about numerology. I don't have anything against it, I just never had the energy to learn about it. I have a friend who is well versed in it, and perhaps I should ask him. But, like I said, it is not something that is on the forefront of my mind... it's just something that gets noticed every time it comes up.

I wonder sometimes if it is because my birthday is April 10th, so it's more of an A10 thing? Or, April 10 is 4/10 and Aug 10 is 8/10 [the 8 being double the 4]. But I will have to ask Catty what he thinks.

So, Happy August 10th. Hope something noteworthy happens to you today!

Welcome

Welcome to Mintie's Blog.

I had been toying with the idea of starting a Blog... posting images, videos [which I have recently started playing with], musings, thoughts, etc. But I wasn't sure I had enough to say to keep it regular. Then a friend told me I should start one. She [for some odd reason] thinks I have an interesting life. Interesting stories? Maybe. Interesting life? Well, that remains to be seen. So, I'm just going to give it a shot...

In this space, you'll read my musings on whatever strikes my fancy from day to day. I expect there will be a bit about:
Fashion [shoes especially]
Movies [ok, I mean Documentaries mostly]
Travel [although I am sadly stationary at the moment]

I suspect I will post a:
Photograph here and there, as I again have been remiss in this category. But I really want to start organizing my recent shootings into some kind of showing.

Video or two. This is my newest venture. My current video camera does not have sound, AND, I am currently without an editing program, so they will be short silent clips... but beautiful and artistic no less ;)

So, come back and visit soon. Hopefully I will have something that you'll enjoy.

Watch for post #1 very soon [Today, I hope!]
